Farmers Find Rotten Apples in Trump’s Ag Policy Barrel

BFI affiliated faculty Jeff Perloff was featured in a recent California Magazine article that examines the impact of Trump’s immigration and trade policies on farmers. The article highlights one of Perloff’s studies, which found that the number of miles farmworkers travel within the United States each year has dropped almost 40 percent since 1993, exacerbating labor shortages on farms. “We can’t prove that fear of being caught by ICE was responsible for the decline, but it’s likely that fear is at least one of the factors,” says Perloff.
