In an effort to streamline the application process, minimize errors, and enroll more eligible students, the USDA recently released a new prototype web-based application process for families who want to sign up for the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs. In addition to free and reduced priced school meals, the USDA works to increase food access through a variety of other programs such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Rural Impact Program, which helps address poverty among rural families.
