Campus Gardens
UC Berkeley is home to a growing network of gardens that capture student interest in urban agriculture and greening and respond to urban sustainability, food security, environmental health, and climate change resilience. Many of these are student led with functions for food production, education, research, community building, and cultural representation. Since 2017, the Berkeley Food Institute and Basic Needs Committee have coordinated a campus gardens program which aims to improve integration between urban agriculture and Basic Needs services, increase experiential learning, and initiate cross-campus collaboration.
Berkeley Food Institute
The Berkeley Food Institute (BFI) seeks to transform food systems to expand access to healthy, affordable food and promote sustainable and equitable food production. We empower new leaders with capacities to cultivate diverse, just, resilient, and healthy food systems. We pursue our mission through interdisciplinary programs in education, research, policy, communications, and community engagement.
About the Position:

The new Land Use Working Group aims to collaboratively develop a model for community participation in campus land use decisions. The two Coordinators will envision, initiate, and coordinate the Working Group with the goal of developing a document of recommendations by the end of the academic year. The Coordinators will report to BFI staff.
