Support Berkeley Food Institute
Transforming food systems since 2013. Join us in building a just and sustainable future.
Our Impact: The Berkeley Food Institute (BFI) was established in 2013 as an interdisciplinary collaboration among five UC Berkeley colleges and schools to catalyze transformative change in food systems locally and globally. We’ve since grown to include eight UC Berkeley schools and a network of more than 150 affiliated faculty and staff.
We’re making real change: Our research and policy work has advanced soda tax research and policy innovation, organic agriculture workforce development, state Farm to School program evaluation, sustainable pest management roadmap design, Healthy Soils program evaluation and more. See our impact reports for detailed results.
We’re training the next generation: Through our Graduate Certificate in Food Systems, support for the Food Systems Minor, on-campus agroecology programming, career pathways support and summer field programs, we prepare tomorrow’s food and farm systems leaders.
We work in partnership: We connect campus expertise with community needs, organizing events that bridge academia and the broader food movement while advancing just and sustainable policy innovation with state and federal policymakers.
Why We Need Your Support: BFI is an independently funded institute, supported by individual donors, family foundations and state and federal grants.
Your tax-deductible donation directly supports our interdisciplinary research, education and policy work to advance just and sustainable food and farm systems.
