BFI’s 2024 Community Showcase
In early October, BFI welcomed its local food systems community to celebrate recent successes in research and advocacy.
Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Oxford Tract for our Community Showcase this year! Despite the heat, we had nearly 200 students, faculty, staff and community partners join us for an afternoon celebrating the Berkeley Food Institute’s work to support a just and sustainable food and farm system.
Attendees heard from Faculty Directors Professor Tim Bowles, Dr. Susana Matias, and Professor Isabel Madzorera, who shared their food systems research, as well as from special guests Rausser College Dean Ackerly and Deputy Secretary for Climate and Working Lands at the CDFA Virginia Jameson. We were also joined by the Basic Needs Center, Berkeley Student Farms, the Center for Responsible Business, Cal Dining’s Office of Sustainability, and People’s Programs — Thank you for representing your work on the land.
A final thank you to all of our supporters who made this event possible. We are so honored to partner with a community of passionate food system change-makers.
